Pontotoc County Criminal Justice Center

Pontotoc County Criminal Justice Center Exterior at Dusk

Boldt was selected as the general contractor for the new Pontotoc County Justice Center. Construction of the Justice Center interfaces with the Pontotoc County Fairgrounds and all areas remained operational throughout the construction process. The new jail was originally designed to house 152 inmates with room for expansion, but officials elected to increase the size to 200 inmates to avoid material price increases.

The large jail lobby is bordered by a courtroom, secure receptionist area and a special room where visitors of jail inmates can sit and talk via video visitation. Inmates are housed in separate dormitory blocks in accordance to their individual threat level. Low-threat offenders are housed in dorms designed to allow more freedom, while higher-threat level offenders have cells with vault-like security doors.

Project Highlights

  • Boldt relocated the site utilities to allow access around the building once complete. This will also allow for easier expansion in the future.
  • There were some security corridors that were not drawn to be secure. Boldt helped in the design of metal walls above the ceiling to create a secure corridor.
