General Motors – Cooling Tower

General Motors Cooling Tower Exterior of Site

Boldt has completed hundreds of projects over the years for General Motors. This project consisted of the demolition and removal of an existing cooling tower and installation of a new fiberglass, six-cell counter flow tower. In addition to the erection of the new tower, work also included electrical wiring, mechanical piping and controls programming for its operation.

Already following an aggressive schedule, the project was faced with a temporary shutdown due to an ongoing labor disagreement within General Motors only a few weeks after breaking ground. When work was able to commence again, Boldt, General Motors and our trade partners quickly coordinated to develop a Lean implementation plan, using principles of the Boldt Production System (BPS). As result, the team was able to not only meet the original scheduled completion date, but deliver the project nearly a full month early, all while maintaining the project budget.
