Gulfstream, Boldt break ground on new service center at Appleton, WI International Airport
APPLETON, WI, July 5, 2018–Leaders from Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., The Boldt Company and Appleton International Airport, along with local dignitaries, recently broke ground on Gulfstream’s new service center at Appleton International Airport. The facility, which is being constructed by general contractor The Boldt Company, will complement the existing hangar and office space and support Gulfstream’s growing customer fleet. It is expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2019.
Speaking to those at the ceremony, Derek Zimmerman, president of Gulfstream Customer Support, highlighted the project’s community impact.
“Twenty years ago a bond was formed between Gulfstream and the city of Appleton and like this site, this special bond has only grown and improved over time. Gulfstream has become part of the fabric of this community, which is why it’s incredibly rewarding to be able to be here and expand our operations,” said Zimmerman. “The groundbreaking today symbolizes our enduring commitment to the people of the Fox Valley and to all the Gulfstream customers from around the world who choose to bring their Gulfstream aircraft here for service.”
Tom Boldt, CEO of The Boldt Company, who also spoke to attendees at the groundbreaking event, noted the importance of teamwork to the success of the project.
“It’s a real honor to be representing the many men and women who are working on the design and construction of this magnificent addition to our community. We’re very proud of the collaboration and partnership with McMahon Associates, OMNNI Associates and project subcontractors; we are a unified team with and for Gulfstream,” said Boldt. “For Boldt, this is a project right in our backyard and we are extremely proud to be working with an organization that invests in the Fox Valley.”
When completed, the $40 million,180,000 sq. ft. maintenance, repair and overhaul facility, located northeast of the airport terminal, will include a hangar, offices, back shops and support space. The expansion, which aims to achieve LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, will create approximately 200 job, boosting the number of employees at Gulfstream Appleton to more than 1,000.
In operation since 1998, Gulfstream Appleton is home to a service center and large-cabin completions facility spread over more than 315,500 sq. ft. In 2017, Gulfstream Appleton employees completed 582 aircraft visits, including road trips, to support customers at regional airports.
